To strengthen our existing teams, we are looking for:
SAS Programmer (Luxembourg) (m/f)
Tasks:
Following a feasibility study in 2006 the development of a generic tool
(Generic SAS Tool) for the management of statistical micro-data coming from surveys started and was
integrated in the IT architecture and connected to the other existing standard tools.
The developments of the proposed architectural solution for this type
of generic tool require a big effort worth several men years of development. The solution is based
on a series of use cases or small modules, performing a specific statistical functionality, to
interconnect in a global architecture.
The development of the necessary use cases started with the
applications to treat the micro-data of two statistical surveys in the field of education
statistics (AES Adult Education Survey and CVTS3 Continuous Vocational Training Survey 3). The
integration of these two applications was followed by the developments (2007-2008) of two new
applications to treat the micro-data collections in the Household ICT (Information and
Communication Technology) Survey and the CIS (Community Innovation Survey) domains. The
functionality of the already existing tool was enhanced, as new features (e-mail notifications,
additional computations) were added and the TDS (Target Date Storage) conformity was
strengthened.
The scope of this new contract is to continue the development of the
general tool by extending its functionality to handle macro-data collections, to design and develop
the GSAST application, to process the data of the RDdb domain.
An existing information system named STIDB has been used in Eurostat
since 2005 (and externally since 2003) for storing and processing the data collection but its
functionalities are not judged anymore satisfactory and it has been decided to redevelop the
application inside GSAST.
Parallel with the development of this application some other
enhancements of the GSAST are planned; therefore a close collaboration of the development teams is
essential.
The expected benefits of the project are:
o
The necessary use cases and the environment for the new GSAST
application to handle the data collection RDdb will be developed, so GSAST can be used as
production tool for the data collection.
o
Functionalities of the new tool provide an improvement for users
compared to the existing STIDB.
o
Systems for the treatment of data in the field of education, science
and culture statistics are harmonized,
o
The functionality of the GSAST tool will be extended (e.g. OLAP
functionality will be added) to handle macro-data collections.
